Well, I finally got a response from my soon to be Spanish family!
The girl that wrote me is the oldest daugher who is 42 years old named Mercedes or "Merche" for short, so all of the connections are from her point of view.
This is the mother, also named Mercedes but is called "Merce" for short.
(Basically, the mother is "MEHR-seh" whereas they call the daughter "MEHR-cheh"... and I thought Cindy and Sandy were bad!) also pictured is Merche's niece María who is 18 months years old. Merche says that they care for her in the mornings sometimes during the week.
This is Becky (Merche's sister) and her boyfriend Jon on the left, who are 27 and 30 years old, and live on their own on the other side of town. She works as a professor at an aesthetics and beauty school near the house, and he works as an electrician. On the right is Merce and Pedro, ages 64 and 71 respectively.
This is Guinness, the Irish cat. Apparently he is very active and playful and is 7 years old.
This is Guillermina, the other cat, who is a lazy bum who does nothing but lay around the house all day taking siestas and is 21 years old!
The last photo is of Merche, the daughter that sent me the email.
I'm told that the flat is divided up into two parts, one about 40 sq meters which is where Merche stays, and then another of 120 sq meters which is where my room will be (I assume shared with Pedro and Merce)
Apparently they do have internet in the house, but something has been wrong with the connection for the past week or so and they just now finally got it taken care of! Merche also gave me some information about the rest of the family living outside of the house and such, and says that the area is very calm and safe. She also says that Oviedo is apparently the cleanest city in Europe! Not too shabby huh? She also says that it is about 10 minutes away from the campus where my classes are held, so that should work out nicely.
Unfortunately, she neglected to mention anything about meeting me at the airport, so I hope to figure that out soon.
